On 3-4th May I had the pleasure of presenting the East and Southern Africa Background Report for the MICIC initiative at the regional consultation in Kigali, Rwanda. I have co-authored the report with Sarah Langley and it has been a really interesting experience to learn more about the MICIC initiative and to attend the regional consultation and learn about best practices for protecting migrants in crisis within the region. The MICIC initiative has just released its non-binding guidelines for states on protecting migrants in countries experiencing conflict or natural disasters. The regional consultation report is now available for download.
