For the ADMIGOV project, Zoe Ogahara and I wrote a background paper on migration governance in Ethiopia. It is evident that Ethiopia is becoming an increasingly significant country for migration as a country of emigration, refugee hosting, transit migration, and return migration. In this paper we use key stakeholder interviews conducted in spring 2020 and background sources to provide an overview of how migration is governed in Ethiopia. We examine migration trends, migration policies, and migration actors.
For the ADMIGOV project we hope to do fieldwork later in 2020 to further examine migration decision making of locals and Eritrean refugees.
